The Hellenikon Park project is envisioned as a large decompression chamber for Athens. Besides the unfolding of a series of connections to urban infrastructure networks and the building of ecology-corridors to adjacent habitats, it maintains a strong commitment to develop a diverse ecology, locating the required program to densified zones, the Olympic Plaza, the Promenade on the Park and the the Park Development, in order to preserve the Park’s biotope areas. The project aims for an urban ecology where natural and cultural flows colonize the site through a series of land operations that resemble agricultural processes (land cut-and-fill works, water systems and vegetation processes), while allowing rule based vs formal development of private small-scale areas, and proposing the overlay of a quilt of patches to be leased to groups.
